NIH Regional Workshop
Philadelphia, PA - Jan 28-30, 2005
PC Project Director, Mary Schwartz, met with leaders of other rare-disease patient supportorganizations at a regional training workshop n Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on January 28-30. The workshop was sponsored by the Office of Rare Diseases (ORD) of the National Institutes of Health (NIH). "Gaining Access to Research Resources" was the topic.
The information provided will greatly assist PC Project in working with the NIH (National Institutes of Health which funds research grants in the U.S.) and the FDA (Federal Drug Administration which regulates and approves drugs in the U.S.) The NIH ORD staff are guides and mentors to help groups such as PC Project work within the structure of the NIH and FDA. The NORD organization provides general support to organizations such as PC Project and to patients with rare disorders.
