Different Like Us!

July 18, 2025

We’re proud to see our PC community represented in Different Like Us!, a new book celebrating over 40 children from around the world including one beloved member of the PC Project community.

Different Like Us! looks at how children and teens who feel out of step with their classmates, find their paths to inner strength and creating the lives they want to lead. This book was published on July 21st, 2025, and features one of our very own, Coraline, who deals with the pain of PC.

The author of the book, Margaret Rook, told PC Project, “Different Like Us! is my new book. It includes interviews with 45 children and teens who feel different from their classmates for all sorts of reasons, from losing a parent, to being a young carer, having epilepsy, deafness, dyslexia and a huge list more.

I am thrilled to say the first chapter, ‘Never Giving Up’, tells the story of a wonderful girl with PC. Cora, who’s 10, from the USA, talks about her life, the difficulties she goes through with PC and everything that helps her. She speaks so eloquently as she shines a light on PC, making sure more people understand the condition, and understand the fantastic work of PC Project. Cora and the others in the book show they are not alone with their struggles, and explain the effective ways they are able to cope and focus on their strengths and interests.

We all need to be heard and listened to. This strengths us all and increases understanding and kindness, encouraging us to accept ourselves and others.

So hooray for Cora for leading the way, and hooray for the PC Project. I am so delighted to have included you in the book. I hope your members and supporters find Cora’s words and all the other stories interesting and empowering.”

Thank you, Coraline, for bravely sharing your story!
