Step Up For PC: Peer-to-Peer Campaign

July 22, 2026

Imagine if every step hurt

For most people, taking a walk is something they never think twice about.

For someone living with Pachyonychia Congenita (PC) or another painful palmoplantar Epidermal Differentiation Disorder (pEDD), every step can be painful. Walking, standing, working, going to school, or simply getting through the day often comes with a cost.

That’s why we’re asking you to Step Up for PC.

Together, we’re raising $60,000 to fund research, provide free genetic testing, support patients and families, educate healthcare professionals, and raise awareness of these rare genetic skin disorders while bringing hope to individuals and families living with PC and related painful pEDDs.

Getting Started is Easy

1. Create your fundraising page.

Click “Become a Fundraiser” on our Givebutter campaign page (or JustGiving UK, for those in the UK to have Gift Aid option), then personalize your page with your story and photo. Returning Fundraisers: If you created a Givebutter fundraiser last year, please sign in to your existing Givebutter account before creating your new fundraising page.

2. Share why you care.

Tell your friends and family why you’re stepping up for PC. Personal stories inspire generosity.

3. Spread the word.

Share your page by email, text, or social media. Every share helps spread awareness and brings us closer to our goal.

Why We Step Up

Jack Padovano, Chair of PC Project’s Board of Directors, lives with PC.

He often explains life with PC by comparing it to having a bank account—not one filled with money, but one filled with steps.

“Every morning I wake up with a limited number of steps in that account. Every step I take is a withdrawal. If I walk too much, stand too long, or push myself too hard, I overdraw the account and pay for it with pain. Research has given me hope. That’s why I’m asking you to Step Up for PC.”

For people living with PC, every step matters.

That’s why every dollar raised through this campaign matters too.
