PACHYONYCHIA CONGENITA (PC)

Pronounced   “Pack-e-o- neek-e- uh”   “kuhn-jen-i-ta”

PC is an ultra-rare (orphan) genetic skin disorder caused by a single mutation in any one of five keratin genes KRT6A, KRTK6B, KRT6C, KRT16, or KRT17.

pachy means thick
onychia refers to nails
congenita means something present at birth
